Communications Associate

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute your voice to a team of world-class strategists, artists and advocates who are working to ensure the clean energy targets in the Inflation Reduction Act are met. Along the way, you’ll likely gain some valuable insight into how your journalism and storytelling skills can influence lawmakers and shape public debate.

We know from decades of experience that democracy works when citizens vote and demand action from their elected officials. Using state-of-the-art tools, our team makes it extremely easy for advocates to contact legislators and key stakeholders and truly participate in the legislative process.

Daily Responsibilities

Media Monitoring & Analysis

  • Find and organize relevant news clips & possible news opportunities

  • Monitor social sentiment related to relevant hashtags & conversations

  • Provide a brief daily report w/ links & analysis to use for content drafting

Research, Business Development, Metrics

  • Conduct research & interviews with subject matter experts to prep for content drafting

  • Conduct outreach to potential clients; participate in creation of pitches and proposals

  • Maintain metrics dashboard within email Editorial Calendar

Content Drafting & Approval

  • Create posts for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter (daily) and emails (weekly)

  • During the summer, report 2 longform stories of real people or communities positively impacted by the transition to a clean energy economy

  • Collaborate with supervisor to efficiently finalize/approve content before dissemination

Social Media Engagement -- 1 hour per day

  • Post approved content to social media channels

  • Boost posts with advertising funds according to pre-approved spending

  • Monitor reaction and responses and engage when appropriate
